ASSISTANT TENANT ADVOCATE, DAYDAWN ADVOCACY CENTRE

Daydawn Advocacy Centre is a busy Archdiocesan agency that provides advocacy for Aboriginal people.  The position is part-time (0.60 FTE until Dec 2019, 0.40 FTE thereafter (with a possibility of 0.60 FTE dependent on capacity requirements). This role works directly with the tenant advocate lawyer, supporting clients facing eviction and other issues related to rental properties. The work includes advice and assistance to individual tenants in person; casework and advocacy in Magistrates Court termination proceedings; advocacy to the Housing Authority for tenants and people on the housing waiting list.  This role would suit someone with a commitment to social justice and tenant rights, experience in advocacy and an understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act 1987 (WA).
